Yoga master Ulrica Norberg is a best-selling author, breathing coach, and an initiated Yogiraj/yoga master of tradition. Petra Nilsson is a yogini and yoga teacher who has worked in PR and marketing for many years and has tailored all kinds of events and concepts.

Aristide Hotel has started a tree planting project to offset some of the carbon footprint from guests' travel to the island, they buy mostly local and organic food (the hotel has its own vegetable garden and chickens), and they have no single-use plastic—the bathrooms have ceramic soap and shampoo dispensers, toothbrushes are made of bamboo, toothpaste comes in pill form, and slippers are biodegradable and compostable.

In the 19th century, the city of Hermoupolis on the island of Syros was the industrial and commercial heart of Greece, as well as the country's main port. Great fortunes were made in shipping, shipbuilding, and textiles, and the wealth is evident in the stately mansions built on the island. Hermoupolis offers sophisticated architecture set on cliffs overlooking the clear, swim-friendly Mediterranean Sea.

Today, the city is the capital of the Cycladic island group. Locals explain that they saw the picturesque fishing villages in nearby Mykonos become mass tourism destinations for party tourists and simply did not want to follow in their footsteps. Instead, this island remained an authentic and lively place. It has the best of both worlds: an urban and very artistic scene with many festivals (international film, jazz, street art, animation, and much more), a university, art galleries, diving, hiking, secluded beaches, and fantastic cuisine. The city's patron saint is Hermes, the Greek god of travelers.

Full refund if the retreat is canceled or interrupted prematurely, such as if new travel restrictions due to Covid-19 are introduced in Greece or Sweden.
