Master Yoga & Adventure

Nairobi – Rift Valley – Masai Mara – Watamu Beach

Welcome to a completely unique and personalized 10-day retreat in Kenya, Africa. This retreat is organized in collaboration with Jonas Geijke and Naila Sheer from Aurora Safaris, Vera Musili, Peaks Safaris in Kenya, and Petra Nilsson Master Yoga.

You will be met and transferred from Nairobi Airport to Tamarind Tree Hotel. If you arrive early on the first day, you will have the opportunity to visit Karen Blixen and the Giraffe Center together with Vera and Petra. We will meet Jonas and Naila for departure to Enkaji Resort at Kisami's Rift Valley, also known as the cradle of humanity. Among other things, we will visit Ngong Hills, the mountain that Karen Blixen looked out over from her farm.

Jonas has lived in Masai Mara for 25 years, and on this trip we will meet Jonas's private friends among the local population. You will get a completely unique, personal, and different deep dive into their culture and everyday life. We will be staying at Tipilikwani Camp, and our days here will include two safaris out on the savannah.

Every day includes yoga with Petra Nilsson, internationally certified yoga teacher RYT 500+ and founder of Master Yoga. Petra offers sunrise yoga—Sun Salutation "Surya Namaskar," which literally means "Welcome the Sun," meditation, and breath work every day. Together with her and Vera, we round off the day at Watamuu Tree House, a wellness, massage, and yoga center.VotedKenya's best hotel and Watamu Beach one of the world's most beautiful beaches!

You will be in safe hands with retreat leaders who have extensive experience in all areas, and you will take home memories and experiences that cannot be offered by other providers.

PROGRAM

Friday, November 15

Arrival day Nairobi.

A representative from Peaks & Safaris will meet you upon arrival at the airport and drive you to the Tamarind Tree Hotel. We use this day as a gathering day, as you may arrive on different flights. If you choose to arrive early in the day, there is an opportunity to visit Karen Blixen and the Giraffe Center together with Vera from Peak & Safaris and Petra from Master Yoga, who will also meet you at the hotel.

For dinner, we will either take a walk to the renowned Carnivore restaurant, which is located in the same area as the hotel, or enjoy an excellent meal at the hotel restaurant.

Accommodation: Tamarind Tree Hotel – Nairobi.

Saturday, November 16

Morning yoga in Tamarind's stunningly beautiful garden with Petra, followed by a dip in the pool for those who wish. We will gather for a group breakfast where you will meet Jonas Gejke and Naila Sher, who will be our hosts on this trip.

After breakfast and a briefing, we will meet our guides from Peaks and Safaris. We will then load the vehicles and start our SAFARI J (journey in Swahili). The first stop is Kisamis on the edge of the Rift Valley. Here we will stay at Jonas and Naila's family lodge in four guest cottages overlooking the Rift Valley, also known as the cradle of humanity.

On the first day, we will settle in, sample local food, enjoy the views, and take short walks in the surrounding area. Afternoon yoga—Hatha yoga with Petra—will round off the day's adventures.

Before dinner, we enjoy the sunset with a delicious drink in hand, a real Kenyan Sundowner à la Karen Blixen.

Accommodation: Enkaji Resort (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included).

Sunday, November 17

You wake up to birdsong at sunrise and then start the day with a Sun Salutation yoga class with Petra. A beautiful traditional class consisting of twelve flowing hatha sequences, also known as Surya Namaskar, which literally means "welcome the sun." We welcome power, warmth, and light. We get the circulation going in our bodies and prepare your body and mind for a new day. We round off the class with meditation and savasana.

As we are close to the equator, the sun rises at 6:20 a.m. and sets at 6:20 p.m. every day of the year. It is worth getting up early to enjoy the sunrise in this magical place.

After breakfast together, we load up and take a short trip to the foot of the Ngong Hills (the mountain that Karen Blixen looked out over from her farm and where her lover Dennis Finch Hatton is buried). We hike up to the top. Considering that we are almost 2,000 meters above sea level, we take it easy and just enjoy the surroundings.

We return to Enkaji Resort at lunchtime. Free time & relaxation.

Afternoon yoga with Petra before enjoying our daily sundowner and barbecue dinner.

Accommodation: Enkaji Resort (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Monday, November 18

After breakfast at Soluppgången, we meet up with our guides from Peaks & Safaris again. We load up the safari vehicles and continue on to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve.

Masai Mara was Jonas' home for over 20 years, so Jonas probably has the original version of everything you need to know from his Masai friends, whom you will have the opportunity to meet in the coming days.

The journey to the gate in Masai Mara takes about 5 hours. The last stretch to our lodge takes us across the savannah, and before lunch we may already have seen our first elephant and giraffe.

Arrival at Tipilikwani Camp just in time for a late lunch. We then take a short break to rest before heading out on the afternoon safari on the savannah led by Jonas and his very knowledgeable guides from Peaks and Safaris.

Recovery yoga with Petra after today's adventures. We finish with a sundowner before dinner at our camp.

Accommodation: Tipilikwani Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Tuesday, November 19

At sunrise, we meet our guides from Peaks & Safaris again and head out onto the savannah once more. We watch the wild animals and bring a picnic breakfast with us, which we eat under a suitable acacia tree.

We return to our camp at around 11:00 a.m. Break, rest, and yoga before lunch.

After lunch, Jonas takes us on a tour of the local area. We get to meet his old friends and Jonas tells us about his 25 years in Masai Mara. Here we promise a different kind of afternoon with a real deep dive into the local culture, their everyday life and lifestyle.

We round off the day with another safari out on the savannah before our daily sundowner before dinner at our camp. Sleep well!

Accommodation: Tipilikwani Camp (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Wednesday, November 20

After waking up to birdsong in the bush for the last time, it's time to head for Nairobi and catch a connecting flight to Malindi and the white beaches of the Indian Ocean.

We start with a short safari on the way out of Masai Mara before continuing on to Nairobi and the airport, a journey of around 5-6 hours. Here we say goodbye to Jonas and Naila and hello to Vera from Peaks and Safaris, who will accompany us down to the coast.

The flight to Malindi takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival, we will have a car transfer waiting to take us to Watamu Tree House. We will spend the next few days in Watamu enjoying the white beaches of the Indian Ocean.

Thursday, November 21–Saturday, November 23

We will spend the next few days in Watamu. Enjoying the coast, sunbathing, swimming, yoga, and enjoying this beautiful wellness center. Here you will find the best sea conditions for activities such as snorkeling and diving.

Breakfast and dinner are included. On these days, we leave lunch open to give you more flexibility in the program. You can always order a simple lunch at Tree House, but there are also several options along the beach just a stone's throw away, or why not take a tuk-tuk to Watamu village for a pizza or grilled fish?

Vera and Petra will ensure that your days are filled with just the right amount of activities, so that you also have time to simply enjoy this magical place.
