Creative writing retreat in beautiful Brittany
Leave your home environment, get time for reflection, meet like-minded people, and return home with new inspiration for both life and writing.
This is a retreat for those who long to give words and reflection more space in their lives, in a beautiful place free from everyday distractions. You will have the opportunity for meaningful and life-giving conversations with other writers, but also time for individual reflection and creative focus.
You are warmly welcome, regardless of whether you consider yourself an established writer or a complete beginner. The important thing is that you have an open heart, a desire to discover new creative horizons within yourself, and a longing to write, regardless of what or why you write.
The course leader is Sofia Sivertsdotter, author of 13 books that have sold nearly 100,000 copies. The books explore the human longing for a meaningful life and the inner journeys we take as human beings. Her poetic, nature-inspired, and accessible language encourages reflection, provides comfort, and inspires hope. Sofia has a bachelor's degree in Swedish from Stockholm University, has studied at the Poppius School of Journalism and the Jakobsberg Folk High School's writing program, and has previously worked for 15 years as a coach for female creators.
Every morning, Petra Nilsson, yoga teacher and founder of MasterYogaSweden, offers a gentle yoga class. Petra is an RYT500+ international yoga teacher. She is a certified Yin specialist and has in-depth knowledge of anatomy and pranayama (breathing techniques). Petra teaches Yin, restorative, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga. Petra's motivation is to help others feel good, find balance, and give themselves time for stillness and reflection. Petra is your host during your days in Brittany and keeps everything running smoothly.
About Château du Grand Val
Château du Grand Val is a small, beautiful castle dating back to the 15th century, offering breathtaking views of the valley and the medieval village of Combourg.
Swedish couple Marie and Roland Nilsson d'Aubigné spent four years searching for the perfect castle. In the early 1990s, they found their dream, Château du Grand Val. A property with fantastic potential. A charming castle with an exciting history and beautiful, blossoming castle grounds.
Brittany is considered by many to be the most beautiful and exciting part of France for many reasons. And it is no coincidence that French Romanticism began right here.
Around Château du Grand Val, you will find the best food, world-class seafood, miles of beaches, steep cliffs, picturesque villages, and medieval towns. Between experiences, you will find peace and harmony. Lie by the pool, read a good book, stroll in the park, or why not take a morning walk on the paths in the beautiful chestnut forest, "The five senses walk."
At Grand Val, you'll be right in the middle of the stories of King Arthur, Merlin, and the knights of the Round Table. Here, you can feel the history of the Celts and Vikings. Add to that the Atlantic coast's 15-meter difference between high and low tide, and maybe the world's best seafood, like oysters, lobster, and scallops. Enjoy it all with a bottle of well-chilled Muscadet.
Grand Val and the village of Combourg are located just 30 km from the city of Rennes, which has a population of over 200,000, or Bretons as the inhabitants of western France are called. Thirty kilometers in the other direction, you will find the sea and the seaside resort of Dinard, with some of Brittany's finest beaches. Right next door is the port city of St Malo with its beautiful ramparts. Also nearby is Cancale, where seafood lovers from all over the world come to visit the oyster farms and enjoy all the delicacies of the sea at one of the picturesque harbor restaurants.
